Visepresident Joe Biden var hovedtaler på South Carolina-demokratenes middag i går (mens Texas-senator Ted Cruz holdt tale for republikanerne i samme stat, samme kveld). Det blir det selvsagt 2016-spekulasjoner av, ettersom «The Palmetto State» er tredje stat ut i nominasjonssirkuset.
POLITICOs Jonathan Martin var tilstede, og skriver blant annet følgende:
«Part of the appeal of watching the vice president is he reminds audiences that politics and political theater was once a helluva lot of fun. Biden, 70, is the living link between the Hubert Humphrey era of Democratic politics and the Age of Obama. And like Humphrey, Biden is the consummate happy warrior.»
Og dette:
«The old pro may never come close to the job he’s coveted for so many years. He may have missed his moment, Hillary Clinton may be too formidable or some combination of the two.
But he’s speaking to the Democratic Party base as well as anyone at the moment.»
